Aberfoyle Ospreys 2008 -New Staff
My name is Andrea Williams and I am the newly appointed Information and Education Officer working at David Marshall Lodge for the RSPB and Forestry Commission partnership. I previously worked for 6 years with the ospreys at Loch of the Lowes and updated the osprey diary there, so ospreys are a bit of a passion of mine.
If anyone has any questions regarding the Aberfoyle Ospreys, please dont hesitate to get in touch. My volunteers and I will do our best to keep you updated

Welcome Andrea and thank you for the update - we ospreywatchers had been wondering what was happening!
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, I check the site daily to see how the nesting etc is going, it is good to see that the population is very slowly increasing again and hope it continues, these are such magnificent birds, and as a falconer would love to be able to work with them, but don't expect to.

Thanks folks for the welcome.
ReplyDeleteMartin, I have heard ospreys are no use for falconry as they do not chase prey since they only eat fish. Is this true?
Hi Ospreylass, yes it is true, but they can be trained to quary, or at least to come to a glove for reward, but because they are protected, no permission would be granted for this, unless they were injured and being rehabilitated for release ( exercise to buld the muscles back up )
